1. About ReachOut

ReachOut is a Chrome extension and accompanying web service ("the Service") operated by ReachOut Labs ("we", "us"). The Service helps students find publicly-available work emails and draft personalized outreach. ReachOut is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn Corporation or any other company referenced in the Service. "LinkedIn" is a trademark of LinkedIn Corporation.

Privacy Policy

2. What we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to operate the Service:

  • Install ID — a random anonymous identifier generated on your device when you first open ReachOut. Used to track your subscription status and daily usage. Not linked to your name or browsing history.
  • LinkedIn profile slugs you open with the popup — the part of a URL like linkedin.com/in/username. We send only this slug (not the page contents) to our profile-lookup partner to retrieve basic public info (name, title, current employer, profile photo).
  • Recipient name and company — when you click "Find Email", we send the recipient's name and current employer to our email-finder partners to look up a verified work email.
  • Your resume text, if you upload one — extracted text only, never the file. Used to personalize AI-generated emails. Stored in your browser's local storage and sent with each generate-email request.
  • Generated email drafts — created server-side via AI; not stored after delivery to your browser.
  • Email address — only if you subscribe to Pro. Collected by our payment processor at checkout. Used to restore Pro access if you reinstall on a new device.
  • Usage timestamps — one row per metered action (email-find or AI-generate), used to enforce the rolling-24h quota for free and Pro tiers.

3. What we don't collect

  • We don't read or store the contents of LinkedIn pages you visit.
  • We don't track your browsing outside of profiles you actively open the ReachOut popup on.
  • We don't access your LinkedIn account, cookies, or any other browser data.
  • We don't sell your data to any third party.
  • We don't share your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Third-party services

To deliver the Service, we share narrowly-scoped data with reputable third-party providers for the following purposes. Each receives only the data necessary for its function, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

  • Profile lookup — to retrieve basic public information about a LinkedIn profile from its slug.
  • Email finders — to look up verified work emails from public databases using the recipient's first name, last name, and company.
  • AI generation — to draft personalized outreach emails using the recipient's role/company, your context input, and your resume text (if uploaded).
  • Payments — to process Pro subscriptions. Our payment processor handles your card details directly; we never see them.
  • Transactional email — to send one-time codes when you restore Pro access on a new device.
  • Hosting and database — to run the backend service and store your anonymous install ID, subscription status, and usage records.

If you want the names of specific providers for due-diligence or compliance reasons, email us and we'll share them in writing.

5. Data retention

  • Usage records are retained for at least 30 days for quota enforcement, then may be deleted.
  • Subscription records are retained for the lifetime of your subscription plus 1 year for tax/accounting purposes.
  • Resume text lives only in your browser's local storage and on our server in transit during email-generation requests; we do not persist resume text in our database.
  • Generated drafts are not stored on our servers after the response.
  • You can delete all local data at any time by removing the extension or clearing its storage in chrome://extensions.

6. Your rights

Email hello@reachout.careers to: access your data, request deletion, cancel your subscription, or ask any privacy question. We respond within 7 days.

Terms of Service

7. Subscriptions

  • The Pro plan is $8 USD per month, or $20 USD billed every 3 months, via Stripe.
  • You can cancel any time from the in-extension billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until then.
  • We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us within 14 days for review.
  • Pro includes 30 metered actions in any rolling 24-hour window. We may adjust this limit with reasonable notice.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use ReachOut to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) in violation of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, or other applicable law.
  • Reverse-engineer, modify, or redistribute the extension.
  • Scrape personal email addresses (we only return work emails from public databases).
  • Use multiple accounts or installations to circumvent quota limits.

9. Disclaimer

ReachOut is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Email confidence scores are estimates from third-party providers and we cannot guarantee deliverability. Outreach success depends on many factors outside our control.

10. Changes

We may update this page from time to time. We'll bump the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
